LVT(A)-2 Armored Amphibious Tractor - WWII US Army

The LVT(A)-2 was an armored version of the LVT-2 cargo amtrac, with steel plating on the cab and hull to protect its crew and passengers from small arms fire during the run to the beach. Unlike the later LVT(A) types, it had no turret and kept its role as an armored troop and supply carrier.

Around 450 were built, most going to US Army amphibian tractor battalions. They saw action in the Pacific, including the landings at Leyte in the Philippines in 1944.
