Sd.Kfz. 222 Light Armored Car - WWII German Army Reconnaissance

The Sd.Kfz. 222 was the standard German light armored car of the early and middle war years. Its small open turret carried a 2cm autocannon and a machine gun, protected from grenades by a hinged wire-mesh screen.

Fast and nimble on roads, it led the advance of reconnaissance battalions in Poland, France, the Balkans, the Soviet Union and North Africa, where it was especially well suited to the open desert.
