VW Schwimmwagen Type 166 Amphibious Car - WWII German Army
The Volkswagen Schwimmwagen Type 166 was a four-wheel-drive amphibious car developed from the Kubelwagen. Its tub-shaped hull floated, and a fold-down propeller at the rear was driven straight off the engine for crossing rivers and lakes.
Around 15,000 were built, making it the most numerous mass-produced amphibious car in history. Schwimmwagens served on every front with reconnaissance and motorcycle units, prized for going where trucks and motorcycles could not.
The VW Schwimmwagen with its rounded bathtub hull and rear propeller, ideal for German recon and command units.
