Sturmtiger 38cm Assault Mortar (Sturmmorser Tiger) - WWII German Army

The Sturmtiger was built on a Tiger I chassis and armed with a huge 38cm rocket-propelled mortar designed to destroy fortified buildings and bunkers with a single shot. Each round weighed around 350kg and had to be lowered into the vehicle with a small crane.

Only around 18 were converted in 1944. They served with a handful of special companies on the Western Front in 1944 and 1945 and remain one of the most extraordinary armoured vehicles of the war.

Tiger I based Sturmtiger with its massive boxy casemate and short 38cm mortar barrel.
