M4 Sherman with T34 Calliope Rocket Launcher - WWII US Army Rocket Tank
The T34 Calliope was a 60-tube rocket launcher rack bolted above the turret of an M4 Sherman, firing 4.5-inch M8 rockets. Named after the steam organ it resembled, it turned an ordinary medium tank into a mobile artillery battery able to drench a target area in seconds.
Calliopes saw action with US armored divisions in France and Germany in 1944 and 1945. The launcher was elevated by linking it to the main gun, and crews could jettison the whole rack if it got in the way, then fight on as a normal Sherman.
An M4 Sherman carrying the big T34 Calliope rocket rack over the turret. Parts are provided for open hatches, and the turret is offered both with and without the main gun.
