Scale

The 88mm Panzerschreck - 'tank terror' - gave German infantry a deadly anti-tank weapon, and paratroop tank-hunter teams used it with great skill in the close terrain of 1945.

In March 1945, Operation Plunder sent the British and American armies across the Rhine at Wesel - and among the defenders waiting for them were the Fallschirmjager of the German 1st Parachute Army. No longer used as airborne troops, the paratroopers had become elite ground infantry, fighting in their distinctive splinter-camouflage smocks and rimless helmets to the very end.

A Panzerschreck gunner with shield and his loader.
