Fallschirmjager MG34 Team - WWII German Paratroopers

The MG34 gave paratroop sections a devastating base of fire - and in the defense of the Rhine towns it pinned down Allied attackers at every crossroads.

In March 1945, Operation Plunder sent the British and American armies across the Rhine at Wesel - and among the defenders waiting for them were the Fallschirmjager of the German 1st Parachute Army. No longer used as airborne troops, the paratroopers had become elite ground infantry, fighting in their distinctive splinter-camouflage smocks and rimless helmets to the very end.
