The Ausf. F, later called F1, replaced bolted-on plates with thicker single armor plates, widened the tracks and fitted new single-piece side hatches to the turret. It was the last Panzer IV with the short 7.5cm gun as standard.

F1 tanks served through 1941 and 1942 in Russia and North Africa.

The Panzerkampfwagen IV was the only German tank to stay in production from before the war until its end. Around 8,500 were built, and it fought on every front, growing from a short-barreled infantry support tank into the backbone of the Panzer divisions.

Captures the thicker straight-front hull and wider tracks of the F1, plus a separate turret with the short 75mm gun.
