French Army Horse-Drawn Supply Wagon with Drivers - WWII French 1940
For all its tanks, the French Army of 1940 still relied heavily on horses to move supplies, ammunition and field kitchens. Horse-drawn wagons crowded the roads behind the front during the retreat of May and June 1940.
In May and June 1940 the French Army faced the German Blitzkrieg with some of the best tanks in the world - the Char B1 bis, Somua S35 and a host of innovative designs - but was undone by outdated doctrine and the speed of the German advance. French soldiers fought hard at Stonne, Gembloux, Dunkirk and along the Weygand Line before the armistice.
An open supply wagon pulled by two horses with two drivers on the bench, plus an optional canvas tilt roof.
