The Char B1 bis was the most powerful tank on the battlefield in 1940. With a 75mm hull gun, a 47mm turret gun and armor that German anti-tank guns could not penetrate, it terrorized German columns - one B1 bis, 'Eure', knocked out thirteen German tanks in a single action at Stonne.

In May and June 1940 the French Army faced the German Blitzkrieg with some of the best tanks in the world - the Char B1 bis, Somua S35 and a host of innovative designs - but was undone by outdated doctrine and the speed of the German advance. French soldiers fought hard at Stonne, Gembloux, Dunkirk and along the Weygand Line before the armistice.

The massive B1 bis hull with its side skirts and hull howitzer, a separate APX 4 turret and a tank commander figure.
