French Special Weapons Teams - LMG, Flamethrower and Ammo Carrier - WWII French 1940
Every French infantry section was built around its FM 24/29 light machine gun, a reliable and accurate weapon that gave the squad its firepower. Flamethrower teams and ammunition carriers supported assaults on fortified positions and kept the guns firing.
In May and June 1940 the French Army faced the German Blitzkrieg with some of the best tanks in the world - the Char B1 bis, Somua S35 and a host of innovative designs - but was undone by outdated doctrine and the speed of the German advance. French soldiers fought hard at Stonne, Gembloux, Dunkirk and along the Weygand Line before the armistice.
Light machine gun teams firing and on the move, a flamethrower operator and an ammunition carrier - the support weapons every French platoon needs.
