Italian Observers - WWII Italian Army North Africa

Italian artillery was often skilled and accurate, guided by forward observers who directed fire onto British positions.

Italy's soldiers carried the first years of the desert war, from the 1940 advance into Egypt to the hard fighting at Bir el Gubi, Tobruk and El Alamein. Divisions such as Ariete, Trieste and Folgore earned the respect of friend and foe alike, often fighting with equipment inferior to that of their enemies.

Two observers - one kneeling with binoculars and one standing with rifle.
