Italian Medics - WWII Italian Army North Africa

Italian medical personnel worked under severe shortages in the desert, treating casualties from both sides in field hospitals across Libya and Egypt.

Italy's soldiers carried the first years of the desert war, from the 1940 advance into Egypt to the hard fighting at Bir el Gubi, Tobruk and El Alamein. Divisions such as Ariete, Trieste and Folgore earned the respect of friend and foe alike, often fighting with equipment inferior to that of their enemies.

Two medics with medical bags, one standing and one kneeling.
