Senegalese Tirailleurs Hotchkiss HMG Team - WWII Free French Senegalese Tirailleurs North Africa

The strip-fed Hotchkiss M1914 heavy machine gun had served France since the First World War and still delivered reliable sustained fire in the desert.

The Tirailleurs Senegalais - colonial infantry recruited across French West Africa - served with the Free French forces throughout the desert war, standing alongside the Foreign Legion at Bir Hakeim and in the battles that followed. Their distinctive chechia fez and hardy reputation made them respected soldiers in every theater they fought.

A seated gunner on the tripod-mounted Hotchkiss and a loader carrying ammunition strips.
