Tiger I on Transport Tracks - WWII German Heavy Tank - 3D Printed Wargaming Miniature
The Tiger I was so wide that it couldn't fit on a standard European rail car. The solution was a second set of narrow transport tracks — before loading onto a train, crews removed the outer road wheels and the wide combat tracks and fitted the transport tracks in their place.
It was a long, heavy and hated job, but it was the only way to move Tigers across the continent. A Tiger on transport tracks is a great centerpiece for a railhead, marshaling yard or behind-the-lines diorama.
This model shows the Tiger in its rail configuration — narrow transport tracks with the outer road wheels removed — along with the 88mm gun, turret and full hull detail.
